My Review of Costco’s Beef Crispy Birria Taco: A New Favorite

Lately, my son has been on a mission to try birria tacos. He keeps seeing them all over social media—crispy tacos dipped in rich consommé, oozing with cheese.

If you’ve spent any time on social media lately, you’ve probably seen birria tacos trending. They’re everywhere—videos of crispy tacos.

My son has been seeing them nonstop and has been asking to try them for weeks. So when I spotted the new Beef Crispy Birria Taco in the prepared foods section at Costco, I felt like I struck gold. I couldn’t wait to bring them home and surprise him.

The tacos come in a pack of eight for about $25 (around $3 per taco), which includes a side of Spanish rice and two packs of consommé for dipping.

The instructions says to bake them in the oven, but I found that the air fryer is the way to go. I popped the tacos in for 6 minutes, and they came out perfectly—crispy on the outside, hot and melty on the inside. It’s honestly one of the easiest meals I’ve made from Costco’s prepared section.

Each taco is filled with marinated beef stew and cheese, wrapped in a shell that gets beautifully crisp without falling apart.

The consommé is rich, savory, and deeply flavorful—exactly what you want for dipping. It soaks into the shell just enough to add flavor without making it soggy. Paired with the Spanish rice, the whole meal felt complete and restaurant-worthy.

In terms of portion size, it was just right for three people. We each had a couple of tacos and shared the rice. If you’re feeding four adults, you might want to supplement with something extra on the side.

Best of all, my son LOVED it. After weeks of seeing birria tacos online, he finally got to try them—and now he’s hooked. He actually said it’s his new favorite meal, which, coming from a picky eater, is high praise.

Costco really delivered with this one. It’s convenient, affordable, and delicious. If you’ve been curious about birria tacos or just want Mexican food, you need to try them. They’re definitely a new staple in our household.
