Press the tofu to remove excess water. Place the tofu in a clean kitchen towel and set a heavy object on top for 15-20 minutes. Alternatively, use a tofu press.
Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes or slices.
Season the Tofu:
In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oil, garlic, salt and pepper. Toss the tofu cubes gently to coat them evenly.
Sprinkle cornstarch over the tofu and toss again for an extra crispy texture.
Preheat the Air Fryer:
Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and preheat for about 3 minutes.
Cook the Tofu:
Place the tofu pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding for even cooking.
Air-fry for 16 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the tofu is golden and crispy.
Serve:
Enjoy the tofu on its own, to make it spicy add chili sauce! It's great over rice.
